Thrissur Pooram Package 2022

The Mega festival Thrissur Pooram is held on the premises of the Vadakkumnatha Temple (Thekkinkadu Maithanam) which is just few steps from Wariyam Heritage. Wariyam Heritage is one of the few nearest accommodations for Thrissur Pooram. Day 1 – Monday, 9th May 2022 – Arrival, Check-in at Wariyam Heritage

Chamayam- Pooram chamayam is a sort of dress display consisting of the gold caparisons of the elephants, parasols, and all types of ornaments that will be used for the festival.

Day 2 – Tuesday, 10th May 2022 – Thrissur Pooram

The Ilanjithara Melam starts at about 2:00 PM. This is a musical display an amazing percussion ensemble featuring about 250 odd artistes, ushers in tens of thousands of music-lovers, who wave their hands in accordance to the rhythm.
Kudamattom starts at around 4.30pm.Vadakkunathan temple is made spectacular by the pageant of 30 caparisoned elephants and kudamattom, a competition involving swift rhythmic changing of brightly colored and sequined parasols.

Day 3 – Wednesday, 11th May 2022

Fire Works (Vedikettu) starts at 3:00 AM ,which are distinct in character, performance, excellence and magnitude. Both Thiruvambady and Paramekkavu temples compete with each other to provide the crowd with the best and the most unexpected. Checkout- 12.:00pm farewell.

aanayoottu Thrissur 2019

In the Malayalam month of Karkidakam, the Vadakkumnathan Temple premises bear witness to a unique and splendid ceremony- the ‘Aanayoottu’ or feeding of elephants.

A sumptuous feast is prepared according to the standards stipulated by Ayurvedic tradition for these gentle giants. During this elaborate ceremony, elephants are lined up in a single row and are fed the specially made Ayurvedic food.

This ritual is attended by thousands from far and wide, who wait eagerly to feed the elephants. The special feed for the elephants is made of sugarcane, rice, ghee, coconut, jaggery and Ayurvedic medicines.

This festival has its roots in the belief that offering pooja and providing delicious and healthy food to elephants is a way to propitiate Lord Ganesha, the elephant-faced God according to Hindu faith.

The Aanayoottu festival enjoys massive public participation and is an integral part of Kerala culture.

UNESCO Asia Pacific, Heritage Award of Excellence to Sree Vadakkunnathan Temple, Thrissur. Heritage Award Function at Sreemoolasthanam,  Sree Vadakkunnathan Temple, Thrissur on Friday,  4th December 2015 at 4.00pm.
